Trip Overview

The Everest Three Passes Trek is one of the most challenging and strenuous treks in the Himalayas of Nepal. This incredible adventure offers the ultimate experience for avid trekkers, involving the crossing of three high mountain passes: Renjo La (5,340 meters), Cho La (5,368 meters), and Kongma La (5,500 meters). In addition to these demanding passes, the trek includes the climbing of three notable peaks: Gokyo Ri (5,357 meters), Kala Patthar (5,643 meters), and Chukung Ri (5,546 meters). 
 

Each of these ascents provides unparalleled panoramic views of some of the highest and most iconic peaks in the world, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Alongside these peaks, the trek encompasses a visit to the legendary Everest Base Camp, offering trekkers a close-up view of the daunting Khumbu Icefall and the immense South Face of Everest.

The trek begins with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small mountain town that serves as the gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, the trek progresses towards Phakding along the picturesque Dudh Koshi River, passing through several charming villages such as Benkar, Monjo, and Jorsalle before reaching Namche Bazaar, the bustling heart of the Khumbu region.
 

 Trekkers spend two nights in Namche to acclimatize, allowing their bodies to adapt to the increasing altitude and reducing the risk of altitude sickness. From Namche, the journey continues towards the Sherpa village of Tengboche, known for its stunning monastery, and then to Dingboche. The route then involves crossing the challenging Kongma La pass to reach Everest Base Camp, followed by an ascent of Kala Patthar, renowned for its breathtaking views of Everest. 
 

The trek continues by crossing the Cho La pass to reach Gokyo, an area famous for its beautiful glacial lakes. Finally, the trek crosses the Renjo La pass, descending back to Namche Bazaar and eventually returning to Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu. This trek not only tests physical endurance but also provides deep cultural insights into the lives of the Sherpa people and the natural beauty of the Everest region.

You will be using normal teahouse accommodation during the trekking days in the mountain.
in. During peak season (Autumn- Sep-Nov) and (Spring- March-May) the teahouses and the trail is crowded. Since Autumn and Spring is the best season or best time of the year to trek to Everest Three High Passes. Typical Itinerary

Upon arrival at the airport our guide/representative will meet you and transfer to your designated hotel. As there are no activities planned for today, you may either enjoy the evening at leisure or take a self-guided tour around the tourist market of Thamel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

This morning catches the early morning scenic flight to Lukla. Upon arrival meet our trek crew and proceed along the banks of the Dudh Koshi river through pine forests and crossing several suspension bridges to Phakding. The first part of the journey is a gradual downhill hike and then a steep uphill trek. Overnight in Phakding.

Note: Every Year, Direct flights are on the month of August & March only. The flights for rest of the trekking months are from Rammecchap which is 4 hrs drive from kathmandu & 15 minutes of flight to Lukla.

The trail passes through evergreen forests of pine and rhododendron north up the Benkar valley crossing the Dudh Koshi to Monjo village. This small settlement of Monjo serves as the gateway to the Sagarmatha National Park, Sagarmatha National Park is home to several species of Himalayan flora and fauna. After crossing the suspension bridge, our trail winds up past the settlements of Jorsalle alongside the Dudh Koshi and the Bhote Koshi river. From here it is a steep uphill hike of about 2 hrs to Namche Bazaar, the biggest town in the Everest region. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

This day is reserved for acclimatization, as you ascend higher it is necessary to adapt your body with the surrounding atmosphere. There are several options how you would like to spend the day, you can either hike to the Everest View Hotel passing across Syangboche airstrip which provides stunning view of Mt. Everest and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. You also have the option to take a day hike to Khumjung or Thame village, this hike helps you to adjust and adapt with the altitude gain. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.



 

Today’s trek goes through the most scenic route, the trail goes past the Imja Khola through rhododendron-laden hamlets and emerald pastures with majestic view of peaks like the Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and Thamserku all along the way to Tengboche. Tengboche houses the Tengboche monastery, the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. Overnight in Tengboche.

Our trail descends and passes through lush forests of birch, conifer and rhododendron trees to the tiny hamlet of Debuche. After crossing several suspension bridges we arrive at the next settlement of Pangboche, from here we will find a remarkable change in the vegetation, the mountain vegetation changes to short bushy alpine vegetation. Upon reaching Dingboche, we can relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Amadablam peaks that tower over the village. Overnight in Dingboche. 



 

Most trekkers spend a day acclimatizing at Dingboche instead we will continue to Chhukung to avoid the long walk the following day. Today’s walk is a short walk along the Imja river valley, passing several small settlements with amazing 360° view of the surrounding mountains. On arrival check in to your lodge and later if you wish you can take a short acclimatization hike to the Chhukung Ri (2-3hrs round trip). Overnight in Chhukung

Today you will cross our first pass, the Kongma la pass. The first of our three high passes, it is steep uphill climb through the landslide area until the grassy hill. From here it is somewhat a gradual walk and then a steep climb up to the ridge and to a huge lake and then the last part of the journey is steep uphill. Kongma La pass provided the most spectacular view of Mt. Lothse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Makalu, etc., Descend down to the base and climb up the moraine and walk through the Khumbu glacier to Lobuche. Today's trek is a thrilling adventure as you ascend from Lobuche, situated at 4,910 meters, to the iconic Gorakshep at 5,140 meters. The journey takes us through rugged Himalayan terrain, offering awe-inspiring views of towering peaks and glacial landscapes. Upon reaching Gorakshep, you leave your bags in tree house and continue our expedition to the legendary Everest Base Camp, located at an impressive altitude of 5,364 meters. Here, amidst the towering peaks of the Everest region, you pause to soak in the historic significance of your surroundings and capture unforgettable memories. After exploring Base Camp, we retreat to Gorakshep, where we rest and rejuvenate, surrounded by the majestic beauty of the Himalayas, preparing for the adventures to Kalapathhar (The Best viewpoint to see Everest). Overnight in Gorakshep

This is the climax of our trip, the day begins with an early morning hike to see the sunshine view over the region from Kalapatthar. Kalapatthar provides the best panoramic views of the Everest, Nuptse and the entire Everest range. After enjoying the breath-taking views, trek back to Gorakshep for breakfast and then descend to Dzongla. Overnight in Dzongla.

Today you have a tough day, we shall cross the 2nd of our passes the Cho la pass. Start early transversing through Dzongla towards the pass. The trek begins with a gradual hike and gets tougher and steeper as you near the pass. After crossing the Chola pass you will descend to Thangnak Kharka, where you halt for the night. Overnight in Thangnak Kharka

Today’s hike is along the glacial moraines across the Ngozumpa glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal. As you cross over, the view of the second Gokyo lake comes in sight, Gokyo village stands by the third lake with Cho-Oyu at the backdrop. After lunch, you may explore Gokyo RI & around the Gokyo lakes. Overnight in Gokyo.

Today you will cross the last of the three passes, the Renjo La pass. Thi­s is one of the easiest passes in comparison to other two passes and also the most scenic in term of view. From the summit you can view Mount Everest, Mount Makalu, Mount Lhotse and settlement around the third Gokyo Lake. Overnight in Marlung

Today you trek down to Thame, following the old trade route. The trail is quite scenic with the view of the mountains such as Thamserku, Katenga, Kusum Kangguru etc along the way and reach the Sherpa village of Thame. Overnight in Thame.

Continue your trek downhill to Namche Bazaar passing across Thamo and Samde villages and arrive at Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

 

Today is the last day of your trek, the hike is and mostly downhill except for a few uphill climbs. Descend down to the Bhote Koshi river and then it is a short uphill hike to Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.

After an early breakfast in Lukla, you’ll take a short but scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. This day is yours to spend as you wish. You might want to relax and reflect on your incredible journey, explore the vibrant streets of Thamel. Overnight in Kathmandu

Transfer to the airport promptly for your departure flight to your next destination or towards home.
