This combined trek provides a unique opportunity to explore both the remote Tsum Valley and the Manaslu Circuit, a classic trek that circumnavigates the world’s eighth-highest peak.

Typical Itinerary

The trek begins as you take a short tour drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola. Today you will drive along various landscapes of the hilly region to arrive at your starting point of this trek.

After breakfast, you can prepare for your trip by packing your bags and getting on a bus. We will then head out and follow a scenic trail along Prithvi Highway to arrive at Malekhu. From here, driving through the Trishul river, you head towards Dhading, which is about 30 km away.

The travelers will pass through bumpy roads and highways. Following the trail, you will pass through Arughat and reach Gola Bhanjyang. These incredible views of snow-capped mountains, including the Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu, etc., will enchant along the trail.

From there, you will drive around various narrow cliffside roads to arrive at Soti Khola. Soti Khola is a beautiful settlement of the region that provides incredible views of snow-capped mountains and other diverse trails along the area. We drive another 1.5-2 hours to reach the Machhakhola. In the evening you can explore the region, and then observe beautiful views of snow-capped mountains.You can take a rest in the lodge after arriving and have dinner. You will rest overnight at the lodge

The following day, we will continue our trek from Macha Khola to Jagat. We will then continue trekking, passing through narrow trails there to pass through Tharo Khola. After hiking for some hours, we will pass through the village settlement of Khola Besi, and then we will arrive at Tatopani. Tatopani is a famous hot water spring where you can dip around and experience the relaxing atmosphere.

We will then explore the beautiful region and experience the natural beauty of the trails. There are hot springs in the region that will take out the fatigues you have in your trekking journey. After that, we trek through the region's beautiful landscapes that include a ridge.

We will then cross the Budhi Gandaki river through a suspension bridge. We climb uphill on a stony path and cross a landslide area and a ridge to reach Doban. After crossing a suspension bridge, we will further climb down and take the road near the river before climbing back to the Thado Bharyang.

Then we will travel through the Budhi Gandaki west bank. Then, we will climb over the ridge to arrive at the village of Jagat and rest at a lodge or teahouse.

We will continue our trek from Jagat on this day as we cross challenging terrains to arrive at the village settlement of Lokpa. We will climb the trails that pass through rugged landscapes and ravines. The majestic views of the awe-inspiring Sringeri Himal and other snow-capped mountains will enchant you along these trails. We will finally reach Lokpa at 2249m after trekking for around 6-7 hours and spend the night at lodges.

The trail today takes you from Lokpa to Dumje. We will trek ahead from the village of Lokpal and climb up over a beautiful ridge that leads you to Ganesh Himal Base Camp. The majestic view of the entire Himalayas is quite an enchanting experience.

You will then trek to Chumling from the base camp and get the best views of the Shangri Himal, just above the village settlement. The trail then continues to the various territories of the region to arrive at Dumje. We will stay at a Dumje lodge overnight and rest for the evening.

After breakfast, we will trek to Chule for 7 hours. The trek will then take you to the beautiful Upper Tsum Valley as we pass through these villages. The Shiar Khola remains located on the east side of Nile village and is only an hour away from Chile.

The trail then leads you to Tsum, from where you can observe Piren Phu cave. The village settlement remains near the Burj Village, located at the foot of a rocky cliff. The best views of other natural and cultural landscapes like Shiar Khola, Rachen Gompa will enthrall travelers. There are extensive farmlands terraced in the hills as well. We will rest after arriving at our Nile Chule and then prepare for our next journey along the trail.

The trek today starts from the village settlement of Nile Chule as we trek to Mu Gompa. The uphill hike takes you to the largest gompa of the region, located at the highest point of the Tsum Valley.

The beautiful 18th-century monastery boasts a collection of religious texts. This includes Kangyur, a life-size statue of Tara, Avalokiteshwara, and Guru Padmasambhava. The trek takes some time to complete before arriving at the gompa, where you will spend the night at a teahouse.

This day remains separated for acclimatization and exploration. Hence, you will traverse the beautiful landscapes of Mu Gompa. The beautiful region will make you fall in love with the place. Various small chortens and main walls, and other Buddhist landmarks around the area will make this trip worthwhile.

Trekkers can also go on a small hike around the beautiful small cliffs of the region. We can also hike to the base of the Pika Himal. From this viewpoint, we can observe the enchanting views of the snow-capped mountains and other landscapes, including the Tibetan region across the border. The Ganesh Himal looks incredibly stunning from this viewpoint. We will then return to Mu gompa after exploring and acclimatizing around the region. We will stay for the night in Mu Gompa.

The trail today takes you to Rachen Gompa from My Gomoa. The trail passes through beautiful trails to arrive at the nunnery located in the Shiar Khola Valley. It remains discovered in the foothills of the Himalayas located on the border between Nepal and Tibet.

This large village settlement in Tsum valley is home to nuns of the Ngak-Pa sect. Trekkers can find 1000 Avalokiteshvara statues on the premises, which makes the trip more enchanting. After arriving at our destination of Rachen Gompa, we will rest for the day and prepare for the next day's trek.

The trek from Rachen Gompa to Chumling is another vital segment of this trek. This trek section is incredibly challenging as you will have to trek for a long duration of around 7-8 hours. This trek takes you through high altitudes and downhill. You will arrive at the large settlement area of Chumling after a tour of some time. You will rest overnight at a Local Lodge.

We will start our trek from Chumling to Deng on this day, passing through various terrains. The trail provides you with majestic views of the Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu, and other snow-capped mountains of the region. There are different gorges in the area that you need to climb across before stopping over for lunch. You will then continue your trek as you will trek through descending trails that pass through slopes and cross the Budhi Gandaki river.

There are various bridges you need to cross from the west to the east bank of the Budhi Gandaki river. The trails pass through the dense forest of the region to arrive at the Deng Khola. We will cross the river and then rejoin the path to arrive at Deng. We will stay in the Deng teahouse.

We start our trekking journey on this day from Deng to Namrung. We will continue our trek climbing uphill on a cliff before taking a short descent to arrive at the river of Budhi Gandaki, which we will cross on a suspension bridge. We will climb ahead for some time in the west to Budhi Gandaki valley.

The forested trail will provide you with a tremendous natural exploration opportunity. Many Mani stones and other Buddhist landmarks on this trail make this trek ideal for cultural exploration. There are different sections of this trek that you need to cross to arrive at Ghap. Then, we will pass through the Prok village, where you can observe the best views of the Siring Himal.

We cross the river several times before passing through forested trails and other Gompas. The path gets flatter after crossing the river, and you will take a final climb to arrive at the village of Namrung. We will spend and rest for the night in the village Namrung. The viewpoint from Namrung provides you with incredible views of Ganesh Himal, Siring, and Mt. Himal Chuli, etc.

We will start our trek from Namrung to Lho on this day. This trek passes through challenging terrains and requires you to climb a steep ridge that takes you through a forested trail before arriving at the destination of Lihi. There are various Buddhist landmarks in the region, including chortens and prayer flags and main walls.

Besides that, there are different barley farms as well. Trekkers will then pass through Simnang valley and then pass through Sho to arrive at the village settlement of Lho. We will then spend our time exploring the beautiful architecture of the local monastery. We will finally rest for the evening in a local teahouse.


The trail from Lho to Samagaon takes you through the village of Shyala. We will pass through the courses that provide incredible views of Mount Manaslu and other mountain views. Besides that, you will also get to observe the cultural landscapes of the region.

After arriving at the village of Sama Gaon, we will continue our exploration of Ribung Gompa. The awe-inspiring views of the high glacial mountains will make the travelers enchanted. We will stay in the Sama Gaon teahouse for the night and prepare for this trek.

On this day, we will acclimatize at the village of SamaGaon. There are various ways to acclimatize to the fast-changing high altitude conditions. We explore the beautiful landscapes of the Samagaon region, including the Birendra Lake and Ani Gompa.

Moreover, The Pungyen Gompa is a significant part of this trekking adventure. There are various other natural vistas of the region, including icy glaciers. We will hike for some time around the area; however, only fit hikers should walk for long on these acclimatization days.

This viewpoint remains located at the top of the Samagaon village. The hike then leads you to the gompa, named after the Manaslu mountain. One interesting story of this region is that the gompa was significantly destroyed when the Japanese summiters tried to climb the summit. This led the locals to believe that the attempt to climb the mountain might have angered the Gods. We will return to Samagaon and rest for the evening.

We will continue our trekking journey passing through the majestic Budhi Gandaki River. There are various suspension bridges that you will need to cross the stream. This will lead you to Larkya La pass, one of the most challenging mountain passes in the high-altitude region.

The trails get relatively easy as you pass through the prayer flags covered forested trails of birch and juniper trees. We will then pass through the Budhi Gandaki river and then cross ridges to arrive at Samdo, where we will finally rest for the evening.

We will continue our trek from Samdo to Dharamsala. We will then continue passing through Budhi Gandaki River through suspension bridges and begin a hike upwards. After crossing some water streams, we will pass through the Larkya glacier. Trekkers will then go through the valley before arriving at Dharamshala. We will explore around the Larke Phedi and rest for the evening.

Today, the trail takes you on a short ascending trek to Larkya glacier's north side, from where you get the majestic views of Larkya peak. We will then finally ascend the glacier that moves steeply across the pass. From the top of the mountain pass, you can enjoy the best views of Kanggru, Himlung, Annapurna, and Cheo.

This part of the trek is quite challenging as it will take quite a few hours to complete. There are various low pastures that you need to cross before you arrive at your destination. You will finally arrive at Bhimatang and get the best views of Mount Manaslu.

The trail today passes through various landscapes of the region to arrive at Bhimthang from Dharapani. The tracks then descend and cross a stony glacier before finally ascending from a moraine. The trails then lead you through the dense forests of the region.

This route will provide you with majestic views of Manaslu, Larke, Nadi, and Chuli Himal. Then you will descend and reach Karcher via Sangura Kharka and Hompuk. The trails then pass through fields and climb uphill to arrive at Gho. The trail takes you to Tilje, passing through Marsyangdi valley.

After breakfast, you will pass through a small ridge and other natural diverse trails along enjoy the stone-paved course. You will then cross over Dudh Khola through the suspension bridge and climb a chorten-shaped arch. You will then pass the top wall and the beautiful Thonje village.

There is a police checkpoint in the town as you trail ahead to Dharapani. The city remains located in the Annapurna circuit for many trekkers. From Dharapani, you can observe the snow-capped mountains of the region. The trail then takes you around Dharapani, where you will stay overnight at a teahouse.

This Manaslu Circuit Trek itinerary comes to an end in Dharapani as you will take a scenic drive to Kathmandu. Its is diret road from Dharapani -Besishar which might takes about 4 hours drive. Its paved road from Besishar onward journey. After having a healthy breakfast, we will tip our guides and porter and then board a private Jeep to Kathmandu. Following the trail, we will take the route through Prithvi highway to Kathmandu.

After arriving in Kathmandu, we will stay overnight at a hotel. You can also explore the city and its beautiful landmarks in the evening. You can also experience the fantastic nightlife clubs and pubs in Thamel. You can also go souvenir shopping for your family and friends back home. After having a meal early in the morning, we will continue our journey with a scenic drive to Kathmandu from Dharapani.

This incredible trekking journey passes through various scenic trails, including natural diversities of green hills, mountain valleys, vast meadows, and deep mountain valleys. This beautiful journey along Prithvi Highway takes around 8-10 hours to complete. You will stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu after your arrival.

No, the Tsum Valley and Manaslu trek is not ideal for solo trekking as there are various challenging trails. This incredible trek has chances of trekkers getting lost or injured along these trails. Manaslu Tsum Valley is a remote region of Nepal. Therefore, this restricted trek requires a licensed guide along with a group of at least two trekkers.

This Manaslu circuit and Tsum Valley trek is relatively complicated in the Himalayan region. Various other challenges include rugged and remote trails, altitude sickness, mountain passes, and others. Hence, proper preparation and training are a must for this trek.
